The Audit & Accounts Senior Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Contributing to audit planning by understanding the client’s business and highlighting areas that need closer examination.
• Taking responsibility for allocated fieldwork, gathering evidence and documenting the conclusions reached.
• Investigating discrepancies and raising significant findings with the person responsible for the assignment.
• Preparing statutory financial statements and supporting schedules from clients’ accounting records.
• Applying relevant UK accounting requirements, including FRS 102 where appropriate.
• Following up outstanding information with clients and explaining queries clearly.
• Supporting audit completion and resolving review points within agreed deadlines.
• Guiding junior colleagues through assigned tasks and reviewing their supporting work.
• Keeping colleagues informed about progress, outstanding issues and competing deadlines.

About You

You will bring practical experience of both external audit and accounts preparation within an accountancy practice.

The proposed candidate profile includes:

• ACA or ACCA qualification, or finalist status supported by relevant experience.
• Confidence carrying out audit fieldwork and preparing clear working papers.
• Experience preparing year-end accounts and an understanding of UK financial reporting requirements.
• The ability to assess evidence critically and recognise when an issue needs further discussion.
• Clear communication when requesting information or explaining accounting queries.
• An organised approach to managing several assignments and meeting deadlines.
• Confidence using accounting software, spreadsheets and electronic working papers.
• A willingness to share knowledge and help less experienced colleagues develop.

Salary and Benefits
