Audit Senior – Bolton

Garry Howling Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Audit Senior for a full-time, office-based opportunity in Bolton.

This role will suit an ACA or ACCA-qualified accountant, or equivalent, with strong audit and accounts experience who is ready to take ownership of assignments from planning through to completion.

You’ll lead on-site audit work, coordinate resources, maintain strong client relationships and support junior colleagues through review, coaching and constructive feedback.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for delivering high-quality audit assignments, executing agreed audit plans and ensuring work progresses effectively against deadlines.

Alongside technical audit delivery, you’ll play an important role in client communication, identifying key risks and findings and ensuring significant matters are clearly communicated for senior review.

You’ll also supervise junior auditors, review their work and contribute to their development while collaborating with colleagues across other service lines.

Responsibilities

• Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Manage resources and allocate tasks with clear deadlines.
• Ensure audit work complies with relevant standards and quality requirements.
• Prepare audit findings reports highlighting key risks and areas of concern.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships.
• Adapt your communication style to support effective client delivery.
• Supervise and mentor junior audit colleagues.
• Review junior team members’ work and provide constructive feedback.
• Support the professional development of junior colleagues.
• Work with other service lines where clients receive multiple services.
• Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Continue developing your own technical and commercial audit expertise.

About You

You’ll need:

• ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Proven audit and accounts experience.
• Strong understanding of audit quality and regulatory requirements.
• Familiarity with risk assessment and effective controls within the audit process.
• Strong client relationship-management skills.
• Experience guiding and supporting junior colleagues.
• Current knowledge of relevant accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify issues and suggest practical solutions.
• Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Experience using CCH and Inflo would be beneficial but is not essential, with training and support available.
