Tax Senior Manager

Tax Senior Manager jobs are the most Senior Tax Manager jobs before promotion to Tax Director and Tax Partner level jobs.

A Tax Senior Manager typically oversees a personal tax or corporate tax team within an accountancy firm, alternatively, the team may be a mixed tax team which undertakes both personal and corporate tax. 

The Tax Senior Manager may oversee just personal tax compliance work or personal tax advisory work within the team alternatively they may just oversee corporate tax compliance or corporate tax advisory work. In some cases, the Tax Senior Manager will oversee both tax compliance and advisory services.

Reporting into a Tax Director or Tax Partner the Tax Senior Manager will take responsibility for the day to day running of their tax team.  This is likely to include the following responsibilities:

• Managing the flow of all tax work within the tax department
• Ensuring adequate numbers of tax accountants are available to undertake scheduled tax work
• Reviewing tax files
• Liaising with other accountants in the accounts and audit departments
• Managing the day to day needs of the tax team in relation to training, mentorship and studies towards professional taxation examinations such as CTA or ATT
• Overseeing recruitment into the tax team
• Liaising with tax clients of the firm
• Managing and developing relationships with both existing and prospective tax clients of the accountancy firm
• Reporting into a Tax Partner or Tax Director in relation to the performance of the tax team
• Taking a strategic view in relations to the tax team into the wider accountancy firm
